A Not Too Shabby Weekend

Last weekend was crazy! Friday afternoon we started out hitting up the beach for some skimming and then we were off to set-up for the BIYD premiere. The premiere was a huge hit and we ended the night catching up with Richard in downtown Bham. Saturday we headed out to go camping with some of our good friends. This involved throwing several hatchets, an epic baseball game, skimming, launching oranges, too many hotdogs, fires, and more. Not too bad of a weekend :)

Finished Business

Tony and Isaac finished the new skimboard rails and took them out last Friday. It was a super sunny day out in the bay and we had a blast finally being able to hit a rail longer than 10 feet. You'll be seeing more of these rails soon.

Last day at Baker!

Yesterday, Tony and Isaac shredded up Mt. Baker on what turned out to be a super snowy day. It was Tony's first day back on the hill in 2 years and it was Isaac's 28th day of the season. There was powder, park, pole jams, 360s, hot chocolates, ghetto mochas, butters, and a few flips. It was a great last day of the season. Thanks Baker for being so good to us!

PS: Sorry you had to find out this way Bryce.

Barba y Chino is Spanish for Beard (Tony) and Chinese (Isaac) which is what our names were for the past 10 days. We just returned the other night from our amazing trip to Costa Rica over spring break. While we were there we worked at an orphanage and were able to see God's love at work in the lives of many young ones. And we also saw some crocodiles lol.

Walrus Dodgeball Game #5 and more...

Team "Walrus" had their hardest and most challenging match yet against team "Swagger Jackers" this past week. After a hard fought match against some guys with really big muscles, team "Walrus" was once again victorious in a 3-1 victory. Playoffs start March 7th so keep your fingers crossed.

Bryce's team "Heck Ya" (who Isaac also plays for from time to time) had an amazing last game, although lost in the final match. Luckily, team "Heck Ya" squeezed themselves into the playoffs and will also be playing very soon. Wish them luck as well :)

Volcom's Peanut Butter & Rail Jam

Funtastic Weekend

On Friday we drove down to Seattle with Emile and Bryce for the "How the Northwest was One" snowboard movie premier (party lol), which involved some skateboarding along the way and a collection of free stuff on the way back home. Saturday there was a skim jam in Whiterock, Canada with Kyle Lynch and some buds which was too funny. The skim jam involved some super fun set ups and some costumes. Look out for the footage of that in the new DB film "________ __ _____ _______" (haha not yet...) Lastly we skimmed Sunday evening in the bay and racked up some more Bellingham shots. It was one funtastic weekend!

While work is being done to try to get our skim spot back, you can do your part as well. We feel that the more people that contact the City of Bellingham with the concern that, "our beloved beach has been taken away and we would like to get it back," the better.

So please take the time to email either City Hall, Mayor Dan Pike, or both with your concerns.

Remember to also keep in mind respect for whoever you email because although we may be very mad about our skim spot being taken away, the people that did it probably didn't know how many people it has affected. Thanks everyone and let's keep pushing to get our spot back!

Columbia Sportswear Shoot (long overdue)

About 2 weeks ago we (Tony and Isaac), Bryce, and Emile drove down to Seaside, Oregon to film a promotional commercial for Columbia Sportswear. Lol I know what you are thinking and believe me, we were just as surprised as you probably are. The whole thing was very last minute but it was a blast!

We left at 4am from Tacoma, Washington and drove straight down to Seaside, Oregon. After some traffic here and there, we arrived only to be greeted by a complete movie production crew and a personal assistant who immediately took our Starbucks coffee order (lol all for skimboarding). The shoot was fun, although really cold and we left Oregon after stopping by the local skatepark.

Today we got our checks in the mail and who would have thought this would ever happen to us...

Since Tony has been gone for the break Isaac had to find a new skim buddy for the time being. Logan is his name-o and he was killing it down at the creek the other day. Here's a shot of Isaac on the make-shift slant box since Logan was popping too high to capture in any photos.

How it all went down...

Wow... has it really been 50 posts? My how time flies by when you're having fun. So this quarter has been crazy fun, busy, and educational for the two of us. First off, as the Walrus Dodgeball team entered playoffs coming from an undefeated season, the season was soon over. Oh well, it was a blast and next quarter is REDEMPTION quarter! (as it will be the first time WWU is having Dodgeball as a Spring intermural sport). Second, yes yes yes it is still March and we are still matching even though we are apart for the break. Third, we decided to celebrate the quarter ending by trying to eat all that we could at O.C.B. (Old Country Buffet), thinking that is was going to be a good idea. We soon realized how bad of an idea that was and it was apparent that nobody had won in the end.

Finally, as a new quarter approaches it only means one thing... HECKA BRAND NEW UPDATES! Here's what you can look forward to:
-"Followers" Post (that's right! we now have 30!)
-Snowboarding mini movie (gotta get one before the season ends)
-Skateboarding mini movie (?)
-SKIMBOARDING! SKIMBOARDING! SKIMBOARDING! (Spring is HERE!?!?!)

So we've been super busy lately, trying to get through school and such, plus we both got sick so that hasn't helped either. But it is still the month of March so that means we are still matching! Here are another 6 days for you all. Also, thanks to our recent followers! We appreciate the support and we are still waiting for 3 more (to get to 30) until we make our post dedicated just to them. Who would have known that two years later we would be sharing a bunk bed together....awww hahaha and yes we did have to skim under the ladder to get to the box (bad idea? or great idea?) BAM! Snow!

So yesterday Isaac was at school thinking, "here we go again, just another day at school". Then all of a sudden BAM! Snow! and just like that, in the blink of an eye (if you happen to take 2 hour blinks) there was 6 inches of fresh snow in Bellingham. So we went out to the bay on Friday and it was amazing. It was the first sign we had seen that spring is just around the corner. It was 50 degrees out with sunny skies; what better way to start warming up for the season. Rhys "tomahawk", friend and upcoming photographer, also came out to shoot some photos of us. rough day (man down)

So this weekend was President's Day weekend (aka 3-day weekend/V-day weekend) and it was full of just boardin around. Saturday, Isaac met up with Bryce to hit up Snoqualmie for the morning and it was a blast. After some hours of countless rotations and jibs on the mountain, it was time to hit the beach. Packed up the truck and headed to a new skim spot Bryce had just found and also met up with DB team rider Logan. Next day, we all (Tony, Isaac, Bryce, Emile, Drew, Dakota) headed out to Dash Point to try and get some skimmin in. Unfortunately, "the man" showed up and laid down the law about bringing boxes and rails to the beach so the session was cut short. At least Tony had enough energy to make it back to the car without a problem...lol

First of all, we would like to say sorry to our dedicated fans for the lack of posts. This has been the longest time that has ever gone by without a new post and we will try our hardest for it to not happen again. But anyways, lately we have been super busy working hard on new stuff for DB that will be coming to you all very soon. Although it has been super cold (around 30 degrees), you gotta do what you gotta do and for us that's product testing (aka skimming test boards). So here are some pics.

Top Secret Skate Mission

We went out earlier today to try to skate some under cover spots, but after driving around for an hour that turned out to be a huge BUST! So decided to go undercover (lol) on a top secret mission to this "building" Isaac had heard rumors about. When we arrived we scaled up the wall onto the roof, shimmied our way into the "building", and cleared out a spot to skate. After skating (and looking over our shoulders after every trick thinking we heard something) for awhile, we walked out of there like we owned the place (slowly, silently, and hoods up)... Success

Due to the large amount of rain we have been getting lately, we decided to take advantage of the numerous puddles around town. We stumbled upon this baseball field and it turned out to be a skimboarder's dream.

So we tried to skim the other day, you know get some new media, give the blog followers what they want, but that wasn't happening. We knew from the get go that it was going to be cold, seeing how there was still snow on the ground, but we didn't even think about the wind. As soon as we got down there we were met by 60 mph (guesstimate) winds, so bad that you couldn't even get your board on the water without it flying away. To wrap it up, we think Austin's face says it all.
